Issue: The 375 Field Communicator may unexpectedly turn off while in use. Solution: It was discovered that the manufacturer of the 375 System Card had made a change to the card that created a situation where the current implementation of System Card driver in the 375 operating system would not work properly with these new cards, thus resulting in this 375 shutdown issue. The System Card driver was modified in the 375 operating system to address this issue and allow a 375 to be used with either the old or new System Card designs. A 375 exhibiting this power down behavior can be identified as being affected by reviewing the operating system version. If the 375 operating system version is 1.54 it is or could potentially be affected and the 375 should be updated to the new operating system version 1.55. The version of the 375 Operating System can be viewed by selecting “Settings” and “About 375”. This screen will contain a list of various details about the 375, with one item one being the Operating System version. Detailed instructions of the upgrade process are outlined in the linked article below. This article also contains additional technical content relating to this issue. The upgrade kit can be obtained by contacting a local Emerson Service Center or for North America customers, by contacting the Instrument & Valve Services Response Center (formally the NARC). Other contact details are included in the upgrade document link above. There
is no charge for this kit which consists of one system upgrade card and
instructions. One card can be used to perform multiple upgrades. It is recommended that the card is
retained in a safe location for possible future
use. | |||
